SAI 1 - BUSHIKAN
Traditional Kobudo Sai specially designed and handcrafted to meet the rigorous needs of traditional kobudo training with contact. The main difference between the Bushikan Sai and other brands is the Bushikan Sai has been designed, tested and approved by a long time traditional martial artist. Another unique characteristic of the Bushikan Sai is if none of the 4 sizes offered accommodate the practitioner’s measurements, we will do our best to personalize the Bushikan Sai size to fit you.
QUANTITIES: Kobudo practitioners can choose to purchase 1, 2 or 3 Bushikan Sai. Within the practice of Matayoshi Kobudo we find 2 kata (forms) that require the use of 3 Sai to perform the kata correctly. Practitioners find a common drawback in the market that companies only offer the option to purchase 2 Sai; this either limits the practitioner to be able to perform the kata correctly or the practitioner will need to purchase 4 Sai to be able to have the necessary 3 Sai, thus having a 4th Sai with no use.
SIZES: This Bushikan Sai offers 4 basic standard sizes: Small 16 1/2 inches, Medium 18 1/2 inches, Large 20 1/4 inches and X-Large 22 1/2 inches.
PERSONALIZATION: If the 4 standard sizes of Sai do not fit the needs of the practitioner, the Bushikan Sai can be personalized through special request. An additional fee may apply.
MODELS: Considering the practitioners needs, the Bushikan Sai is available in three weight models:
LIGHT WEIGHT MODEL: this model has been designed having practitioners in mind who may have problems holding heavy objects in their hands due to joint and/or muscles limitations. The Bushikan Sai lightweight model is suitable for light contact training but for heavier contact we recommend using the regular weight and/or heavy weight models.
REGULAR WEIGHT MODEL: this model of the Bushikan Sai is the most popular and requested model by practitioners. The weight of this model allows the kobudo practitioner to be able to test his/her techniques with a partner in contact mode training.
HEAVY WEIGHT MODEL: this particular model of the Bushikan Sai has been designed with fitness and conditioning in mind. Serious practitioners choose the heavy weight version to push themselves during their training, resulting in noticeable gains in conditioning and stamina. The heavy weight model is ideal for heavy contact training against other kobudo weapons.
